Jennifer has worked at Speight & Lappegaard, P.A. since 1992 while a student at the University of Minnesota, and has been practicing law there since her 1998 graduation from William Mitchell College of Law and admission to the bar. In 2012 she joined her stepfather as a partner in the firm. Her  practice areas include the following:

In her business practice, Jennifer assists clients to form business entities (ie. corporations, limited liability companies) and counsels them in connection with their continuing needs. A significant amount of her practice is involved in the buying and selling of businesses, including the negotiation and preparation of purchase agreements and other legal documents related to the sale of a business.

Her banking practice includes significant work with lenders, whom she advises with regard to lending practices, loan documentation and enforcement of creditorís rights. This practice area also necessarily includes banking related litigation.

Jenniferís real estate practice includes assisting clients with the purchase and sale of real estate, including advising them with regard to title and land use issues. She has considerable experience negotiating and preparing purchase agreements and easement agreements for her clients. Also, her practice includes real estate related litigation, including the enforcement of mechanicís liens on real estate, quiet title and torrens actions to correct title and boundary issues on real estate, eviction actions, and foreclosure actions.
